Assistant News Director

10 News-WTSP, the Gannett-owned CBS affiliate in St. Petersburg, FL, is searching for a motivated and versatile leader for the news team in developing multi-platform content. The Assistant News Director must have a passion for producing great journalism every day with an emphasis on watchdog and advocacy journalism. The successful candidate must have solid journalistic judgment and a News philosophy that emphasizes accuracy, quality and unique content. At 10 News, people are our most important asset. The Assistant News Director must be a true leader with a keen eye for talent, possess coaching and development skills and have the ability to maintain a positive culture where creativity thrives. Strong ethical standards and integrity are a must. Departmental planning, project planning and budget knowledge are needed. A degree in Broadcast Journalism and a proven track record of at least five years of news management experience are also required. This posit ion reports to the News Director.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Clearly and consistently communicate an aggressive, focused vision for our product. Build and grow an energetic, skill-rich, focused and innovative team. Develop relationships with third parties to plan and implement successful content sharing partnerships. Develop and plan projects and special events. Plan, prioritize and maximize available financial resources.
